Hypnosis could be just what you are looking for...
Welcome to angelamaya.com. My name is Angela Maya Campbell and I am a clinical hypnotherapist working in the Falkirk
and Central Scotland area. I am a firm advocate of this gentle and effective therapy and I have experienced many, many times
how it can help with a wide range of symptoms and difficulties. Hypnosis is a natural method of dealing with conditions and
has been proved and developed over hundreds of years. On this home page, I hope to help you understand more of what hypnosis
is and clarify some misconceptions.
HYPNOSIS IS a relaxed, focused state of concentration where the unconscious mind responds readily to suggestion.
It is a normal state of mind that we very often experience to a greater or lesser degree on a daily basis. Being engrossed
in a good book, enjoying a wonderful piece of music and driving down a familiar motorway can all be examples of the kinds
of hypnosis we experience ourselves daily. An actual hypnotherapy session would involve the client being guided into a state
of physical and mental relaxation in order that positive suggestions can be made to effect change in the unconscious
mind. Hypnosis does not include advising, diagnosis or prescribing, this would be the realm of other professionals licensed
to counsel. My role as a hypnotherapist is to assist you in acheiving the natural states of mind that can bring about lasting
self change.
HYPNOSIS IS NOT being out of control. If you did not feel relaxed and accepting to the process then it quite simply would
not work. You would never accept a suggestion under hypnosis that you would accept consciously, anything against
your moral code or values would be rejected. It is not some form of mystical mind control. Also, you cannot get stuck in a
state of hypnosis. If you were to listen to a hypnosis cd, for example and the power were to fail, you would either wake up
naturally, fall asleep or you would be brought back to complete awareness through the realisation that the hypnotherapist's
voice had stopped.
